THE ISSUE:

Students often have a poor grounding in English grammar which adds to the challenge of learning Spanish.

In order to teach students Spanish grammar, instructors are often in the position of providing English grammar instruction so their students understand the "language of language learning." This puts an additional strain on instructors, depriving them and their students of time which would be better spent learning and practicing Spanish.

MyLanguageLabs SOLUTION:

Readiness Checks (Student view)

At the beginning of each chapter, students may answer questions covering several English grammar concepts necessary for understanding the Spanish grammar in that chapter. If the Readiness Check results indicate students need help on a specific topic, they are referred to an English grammar tutorial for the instruction they need.

Readiness Checks will also include recycled Spanish grammar concepts necessary for understanding newly-presented grammar in a given chapter. If they need review, they are referred to a Spanish grammar tutorial. Readiness Checks and Tutorials were created specifically for MyLanguageLabs and Arriba 5e.
